The TherapyMenu

Four disciplines, over twenty therapies. Nothing here is ordered from a list — your physician assesses you on arrival, prescribes a sequence, and revises it each morning. What follows is what that sequence can be drawn from, and why each therapy earns its place in it.

01 · Discipline

Water & Thermal

Heat, cold and mineral water used in deliberate sequence to move circulation, calm inflammation and reset the nervous system.

Ice Bath & Cold Immersion01
Cold Therapy

Ice Bath & Cold Immersion

Short, guided immersion in chilled water, always supervised and always paired with a warming phase afterwards.

Why it matters
  • Sharpens focus and lifts mood for hours afterwards
  • Calms post-exercise inflammation and muscle soreness
  • Trains a steadier stress response through controlled exposure

Japanese Thermal

Japanese Onsen Bathing

Mineral-rich hot bathing taken slowly, in the Japanese manner — long enough for the heat to reach the deeper tissue.

Why it matters
  • Opens circulation and eases stiff joints
  • Drops evening body temperature, which deepens sleep
  • Softens the body before bodywork and stretching

Hydrotherapy

Aqua Bed Hydro Massage

A warm water bed delivers pressure waves along the spine and limbs without a therapist's hands touching you.

Why it matters
  • Releases back and shoulder tension in minutes
  • Ideal on days when the body is too tender for deep work
  • Leaves the nervous system unusually quiet

Halotherapy

Himalayan Salt Room

A still, warm room lined in Himalayan salt where you simply sit and breathe the dry saline air.

Why it matters
  • Eases congested breathing and seasonal irritation
  • A quiet, screen-free pause built into the day
  • Pairs naturally with breathwork practice

Contrast Therapy

Thermal & Hydro Recovery Circuit

The full circuit in sequence — onsen, salt room, aqua bed, cold immersion and herbal tea relaxation.

Why it matters
  • Contrast between heat and cold pumps the lymphatic system
  • Accelerates recovery between treatment days
  • Closes with herbal tea so the body settles gently
02 · Discipline

Thai Bodywork

Licensed practitioners trained in the Royal Palace lineage work along the body's energy lines to release held tension.

Thai Traditional Massage

Assisted stretching and rhythmic compression along the sen energy lines, performed on a mat, fully clothed.

Why it matters
  • Restores range of motion that stretching alone cannot reach
  • Releases the hips and lower back that sitting all day tightens
  • Administered by licensed Thai traditional practitioners
Fire Cupping02
Traditional Cupping

Fire Cupping

Warmed glass cups create gentle suction that lifts the tissue rather than pressing into it — the opposite of deep-tissue work.

Why it matters
  • Reaches stagnation that pressure-based massage leaves behind
  • Marked relief for chronic neck, shoulder and upper-back tension
  • Improves local circulation for several days afterwards

Hot Herbal Compress

Steamed muslin bundles of lemongrass, camphor, turmeric and kaffir lime pressed along the muscles.

Why it matters
  • Heat and herb work together on deep muscular ache
  • Particularly effective after long-haul travel
  • Bundles are packed fresh for each guest
03 · Discipline

Herbal & Aromatherapy

Warm oils, medicinal herbs and steam prepared fresh each day, chosen for your constitution rather than from a menu.

Shirodhara01
Ayurveda

Shirodhara

A continuous, unbroken stream of warm medicated oil poured across the forehead for thirty to forty minutes.

Why it matters
  • The single most effective therapy we offer for a racing mind
  • Guests routinely report the deepest sleep of the retreat that night
  • Oil blend selected by the attending Ayurvedic physician

Ayurveda

Abhyanga Oil Therapy

Synchronised full-body massage by two therapists using warm herbal oil matched to your constitution.

Why it matters
  • Prepares the body for deeper detoxification work
  • Relieves dryness, stiffness and nervous exhaustion
  • Foundational — most guests receive it several times
Herbal Body Sculpting Wrap03
Herbal Detox

Herbal Body Sculpting Wrap

A warming herbal clay and botanical wrap applied full-body, followed by rest under linen.

Why it matters
  • Draws out water retention and leaves skin noticeably smoother
  • Deeply warming for guests who always feel cold
  • A restful treatment day requiring nothing of you

Swedana

Ayurvedic Herbal Steam

Seated herbal steam infused with the same botanicals used in your oil therapies.

Why it matters
  • Opens the pores so oil therapies penetrate further
  • Clears the head and sinuses
  • Always follows oil work, never precedes it
04 · Discipline

Rest & Renewal

Sound, breath and stillness practices that teach the body how to fall — and stay — in deep restorative sleep.

Tibetan Sound Bowl Healing01
Sound Healing

Tibetan Sound Bowl Healing

You lie still while hand-hammered metal bowls are played around and on the body, so the tone arrives as vibration.

Why it matters
  • Slows brainwave activity towards the pre-sleep state
  • Requires no effort — nothing to do but lie down
  • Led by trained sound healing masters, not a playlist

Hatha & Pranayama

Morning Yoga & Breathwork

Gentle morning practice on an open-air deck, scaled to your body on the day rather than to a class level.

Why it matters
  • Sets the nervous system up for the treatments ahead
  • Breath practice you can keep using long after you leave
  • Beginners welcome — no prior experience assumed

Contemplative Practice

Guided Meditation & Yoga Nidra

Evening guided rest that walks the body down into the threshold between waking and sleep.

Why it matters
  • Directly retrains a broken sleep-onset pattern
  • Deliberately scheduled before the 21:30 rest window
  • Taught so you can repeat it unaided at home

Thai Herbalism

Herbal Tea Relaxation

A quiet tea service closing the thermal circuit, poured from herbs grown on the property.

Why it matters
  • Rehydrates and cools the body after heat therapy
  • A deliberate pause between treatment and the next activity
  • Blend changes with the day and the season
Facilities

Thermal & HydroRecovery

Four stations, taken in sequence on most programme days. Heat opens, cold closes, and the tea at the end is not an afterthought.

Japanese Onsen

Mineral hot bathing taken slowly, long enough for heat to reach deep tissue and drop your evening core temperature.

Aqua Bed

Warm water pressure waves along the spine and limbs — deep release with no hands on the body.

Himalayan Salt Room

A still, warm salt-lined room where you sit and breathe dry saline air. Nothing to do.

Herbal Tea Relaxation

The circuit closes with tea poured from herbs grown on the property, so the body settles gently.

The circuit is included in every ZEN Escape programme and available to Nexa Sanctuary guests as part of a resort stay. Cold immersion is always supervised and always followed by a warming phase.

How Therapies Are Chosen

Prescribed,Not Selected

You will not be handed a treatment menu at reception.

  1. Arrival assessment. A full consultation with your Ayurvedic physician and Thai traditional doctor — history, sleep, digestion, pain, medication, stress load.
  2. A written plan. Your therapy sequence, meal programme and daily schedule are drawn up before your first treatment, not improvised around availability.
  3. Daily revision. A short morning check-in adjusts the day. Slept badly? The deep work moves and a restorative therapy takes its place.
  4. Exit review. A closing consultation measures what changed and turns it into your Wellness Blueprint™ — the plan you take home.

Not sure which of these you need?

That is the physician’s job, not yours. Tell our concierge what is wrong and we will tell you what a programme would look like.
